About Icsid

The International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) was created in 1957 by a group of international organisations committed to design. Today, Icsid counts 165 member organisations in more than 50 countries, representing approximately 150,000 designers from educational institutions, promotional and professional organisations, as well as consulting practises and corporations.

Icsid's mission is to promote “global solidarity and design for a better quality of life around the world.” To accomplish this mission, Icsid promotes the value of design practice and strategy at many international forums through collaboration with governments, NGO's, companies and organisations. Icsid is also active with regional bodies around the world and has consultative status with UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation), UNIDO (the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation); and WIPO (the World Intellectual Property Organisation).
